Non-halal cattle slaughter line: conventional process and equipment

Plan a non-halal conventional cattle line with the approved stunning and slaughter procedure, rail transfers, dressing, veterinary inspection and cold chain.

A non-halal cattle slaughter line follows the conventional process selected for the plant and approved under its local veterinary and operating requirements. Define animal handling, stunning, slaughter and checks as an operating procedure, then connect those decisions to the handling equipment and dressing line. This route is presented separately from halal procurement.

Resolve the route before the equipment order

  • Identify the authority responsible for site, animal handling, slaughter operation and veterinary inspection, and the intended domestic or export product route.
  • Document the proposed stunning and slaughter method, operator access and the verification procedure required by the authority and plant team.
  • Select restraint and the receiving/hoisting arrangement for that procedure. The rotary-box photograph does not identify or prove a particular stunning instrument.
  • Give the equipment supplier the process brief and define operating checks, sanitation, records and release responsibilities before commissioning.

Reception and ante-mortem handoff

The line starts before the restraint box. Establish unloading, lairage, the veterinary decision and the live-animal race with the local team. Mark the routes for animals awaiting a decision or excluded from slaughter. The 12 photographed stations below describe equipment handoffs rather than a complete licence checklist.

  1. 01. Restraint & slaughter configuration

Bring animals from the accepted receiving race to the selected restraint station. Position the approved stunning/slaughter work and the plant's required verification checks around operator access.

  2. 02. Cattle hoisting

Transfer the hanging load from the front-end receiving area to the bleeding rail. Review the load path and structural/rail support with the building engineer.

  3. 03. Bleeding & overhead conveying

Coordinate the suspended bleeding conveyor, operating interval, collection and downstream handoff from the conventional procedure approved for the plant.

  4. 04. Rehanging & pre-skinning

Rehang to the dressing support and provide manual pre-skinning work access. Show rail elevations and the transition to mechanical hide removal.

  5. 05. Mechanical hide pulling

Receive the prepared hide at the hydraulic puller and use the selected platform arrangement. Provide a defined hide outlet and cleaning access.

  6. 06. Head removal & evisceration

Arrange manual head removal and evisceration beside the carcass conveyor. Present carcass, head and offal according to the veterinary inspection plan.

Prepare the route documents for local review

Combine the operating method, layout, equipment list, material flow, cleaning plan and responsibility boundaries. Obtain local confirmation of the applicable veterinary, environmental and building requirements. For a halal project, certification has its own authority review and decision; machinery purchase is not that decision.

A non-halal conventional route is not automatically admissible in every market. Confirm the local cattle slaughter route before equipment selection; the Malaysia source note explains why State DVS confirmation is necessary for that country.
