A halal cattle slaughter line starts with the nominated certification body and the plant's veterinary approval route. Agree the accepted handling, restraint, slaughter and any stunning procedure before the building and equipment configuration are fixed. The downstream dressing stages follow the accepted front-end procedure; the route must retain any dedicated premises, tools and product controls required by the authority and certifier.
Resolve the route before the equipment order
- Identify the certification body accepted for the intended market, the scheme/version it applies and the plant's veterinary authority.
- Obtain written requirements for animal presentation, slaughter-personnel access and supervision, and whether a particular stunning method is permitted.
- Translate the accepted procedure into the restraint, receiving/hoisting and bleeding arrangement. Do not assume that every market accepts stunning or that every restraint configuration has approval.
- Agree identification, hygiene separation, records and verification responsibilities, including any required separation from non-halal operations.
Reception and ante-mortem handoff
The line starts before the restraint box. Establish unloading, lairage, the veterinary decision and the live-animal race with the local team. Mark the routes for animals awaiting a decision or excluded from slaughter. The 12 photographed stations below describe equipment handoffs rather than a complete licence checklist.
-
01. Restraint & slaughter configuration
Present the animal in the selected restraint configuration so the accepted slaughter procedure and required supervision can be carried out. Select any stunning interface only after the certifier confirms the method.
Equipment interface: Rotary cattle restraint box · Pneumatic restraint box
-
02. Cattle hoisting
Connect the accepted front-end receiving position to hoisting and the overhead bleeding route. Review the hanging handoff in the same procedure drawing.
Equipment interface: Tubular-rail cattle hoist · Hanging-chain and rail interface
-
03. Bleeding & overhead conveying
Set the bleeding rail and downstream release from the accepted procedure. Identify the collection route and the checks the plant will record before dressing begins.
Equipment interface: Suspended bleeding conveyor · Tubular-rail bleeding chains
-
04. Rehanging & pre-skinning
Move to the agreed carcass support and manual pre-skinning positions while maintaining the identification and separation plan for the halal route.
Equipment interface: Pneumatic rail-changing device · Rehanging platform · Dressing work platforms · Stepwise carcass conveyor
-
05. Mechanical hide pulling
Connect the prepared hide, hydraulic puller and platforms. Route hides to the separately defined outlet and review cleaning and handling with the plant team.
Equipment interface: Hydraulic hide puller · Pneumatic lifting platforms · Hide-handling interface
-
06. Head removal & evisceration
Provide head-removal and evisceration access with carcass/offal association preserved for veterinary inspection and the plant's halal records.
Equipment interface: Head-removal and evisceration workstations · Pneumatic lifting platform · Carcass dressing conveyor · White-offal tipping-bucket interface
-
07. Offal transfer & synchronized inspection
Specify the white-offal and red-offal presentation required for inspection. Assign approved, held and rejected material outlets without relying on conveyor motion alone for identification.
Equipment interface: Floor-level white-offal inspection conveyor · Suspended red-offal inspection conveyor
-
08. Carcass splitting
Use the selected splitting-saw/platform arrangement with the hygiene, tool and working procedures included in the route review.
Equipment interface: Band splitting saw · Balancer and tool-sanitation interface · Pneumatic lifting platform
-
09. Inspection, trimming & weighing interfaces
Reserve carcass inspection and trimming positions, identify the release decision and specify any weighing/record interface separately.
Equipment interface: Carcass inspection and trimming workstations · Work platforms and rail conveyor · Weighing interface
-
10. Carcass washing
Connect washing to the approved finishing rail and cleaning plan. Keep the product route, water services and discharge boundary visible on the layout.
Equipment interface: Automatic carcass washing machine · Spray and overhead-conveyor interface
-
11. Chilling & maturation interface
Hand the released product to the specified chilled transport and room arrangement, maintaining the product identification and route required by the operating plan.
Equipment interface: Rapid precooling conveyor · Chilled-room rail transport · Pneumatic rail-changing interface
-
12. Quartering, deboning & cutting interfaces
Select carcass dispatch or further cutting and define the quartering, manual deboning and cutting-room handoffs. Review downstream segregation and identification with the nominated bodies.
Equipment interface: Quarter-carcass lowering/hoisting interface · Manual deboning rail · Meat cutting conveyor
Prepare the route documents for local review
Combine the operating method, layout, equipment list, material flow, cleaning plan and responsibility boundaries. Obtain local confirmation of the applicable veterinary, environmental and building requirements. For a halal project, certification has its own authority review and decision; machinery purchase is not that decision.
